On the Up and Up

Landon is doing a lot better today. Yesterday he chugged a 32oz bottle of Pedialyte and has been eating really well today. We took a nap together and he wet through his diaper twice on our bed! I guess that means he's definitely not dehydrated now...

It's so good to see him getting back to his normal self. It's always so scary when he gets sick - it makes me feel so helpless. So far I guess it was just a bug that stuck around for a few days. The Lord is gracious. Thank you all for your prayers!

Ephesians 3:20

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."

An incident this afternoon reminded me of this verse...

It all began Sunday while in Iowa. We had our church clothes on and were walking out the door. Poor Landon threw up all over Seth (or should I say poor Seth). It was coming out both ends... I think he's past the throwing up, but the other is sticking around. Today I took him to the doctor to get a stool sample and it was an experience I will never let Landon forget.

I took him some food, and prayed that he would go since I didn't want to be there all afternoon. Within minutes I heard some action down there. I took him to the bathroom to get the sample and there was not much there so I went to ask the nurse if it was enough.

In the mean time I heard more rumbling and screaming. I was so thankful that I was going to be able to get a sample! So, we went back to the bathroom and I was pretty sure he done. I got a really good stool sample and got a fresh diaper out. Then, the flood gates opened! He started screaming and shooting poop all over the place. He first made sure to get all his clean diapers - he wanted to make this fun for me. So, I picked him up and grabbed some paper towels to try to contain the mess. This poor kid had only begun. When he was finished in there, it looked like a science project gone bad. I sympathized for the person who would have to clean this up.

I grabbed a few clean paper towels to use to cover Landon and prayed as I walked the 50 feet down the hall back to the office. They let me come back to a room and thankfully had a diaper - it was a size 1, but we managed!

Afterwards, I went back to the bathroom and tried to clean up the mess as much as I could... I really hope the nurses took my advice and called the cleaning lady in!

On a serious note, I really am thankful the Lord answered my prayer so we wouldn't have to wait there all day! We haven't heard what the results are yet, but from the research I've done I'm thinking it might be Rotovirus. If that's the case, we probably have a few more days of this, but hopefully no more stool samples!

Please pray for our little guy as he's not eating much and is just not himself.

Seek the Lord

This past weekend we went to the annual 4th of July Conference that the church I grew up going to puts on every year. It was very encouraging as the speaker, Tom Taylor, challenged us to seek the Lord. Webster's dictionary defines seeking as, "to go in search of, look for, to try to discover, to resort to or go to. It was such a good reminder that the Lord needs to be the One I am pursuing and seeking after and not other things.

Deut 4:29
"But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul."

Jer 29:13
"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

Psalm 27:8
"When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek."

Personality

We got the bouncer out the other day for a baby that was visiting. I remember when he was just a little peanut in this bouncer! It's crazy how big he's getting. I thought this picture really showed his little personality. He's such a goof ball.

Look who's walking!

He started this up a couple weeks ago and now only likes to walk. It's crazy how fast he is changing! We are going up to the yearly fourth of July Iowa conference this weekend and are very excited to see many family and friends.

Family & Friends

My sister, Rebekah, and some good friends, Julie, Uriah (her baby), Jill, and Josie came to visit us from Iowa this past weekend. We had a really nice time. It was VERY hot so we spent a lot of time at the pool. We went to the famous outdoor play, "Oklahoma" which was amazing! If any of you ever come visit during the summer, I am taking you there! It is quite the production.

Landon and Uriah didn't know quite what to think of each other. We had to really work on discipline as Landon really enojyed hitting Uriah...

Happy

This morning as I was getting ready, Landon found Samuel's little keepsake box. So, I pulled it out and showed him pictures telling him that was his brother, Samuel. When I put the box away and we started walking out of the room, Landon says, "Happy" and it just brought such a joy to my heart.
I told Landon, "Samuel is happy and we can't wait to join him in heaven."

I love the little blessings the Lord gives us throughout our day.

Matt. 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Summer

This boy is becoming quite the troublemaker. He is testing every limit there is out there! However, he is learning slowly and will point to something that I have told him "no" and say, "no, no!" That doesn't always mean he will obey his own order though...

Watermelon

Landon has discovered that he loved watermelon. He will eat a ton of it! I guess he realizes it really is summer around here.

Children's Orchard Fill-A-Bag Sale

If you have a Children's Orchard near, check to see if they are participating in the Fill-A-Bag for $5.00 event this Saturday. I know Tulsa and Owasso's locations are. I'm planning on going and hoping to snag some great deals.

Today we went to meet little William Joshua. He is a doll! He weighed 7lb 6oz and was 21" long and skinny. Emily and Jonathan are both doing well and enjoying their beautiful boy.

Here are some pictures of Landon's new buddy:

Babies!

Today, my good friend, Rachel, had her precious boy, Adam James. I can't wait to hear more about her delivery as she was planning on going all-natural - she is an amazing woman! My other good friend here in Tulsa, Emily, is also in labor with her son, William Joshua, as we speak. It would be crazy if they had their babies on the same day (I hope for Emily's sake they do). Very exciting times!

My sister, Heidi and her two kiddos, Clayton and Halle, have been visiting for the week. We have been having a good time. I'll post pictures soon.

UPDATE: Emily had baby Will this evening around 7:00pm - so they do have the same birthday!

Memphis - Day 3

We had another nice day in Memphis. We started out at the Peabody Hotel where everyday at 11:00am, ducks ride down the elevator and stroll down the carpet and into the fountain. It has been a tradition since the 1930s. Landon really enjoyed watching the ducks. We then took a stroll down Beale street and went into a few shops along the way. On our way back to the car it started pouring rain, I was glad we had Landon's raincoat along! For supper, we tried out a local pizza place which was really yummy.

Memphis - Day 2

We had a nice day exploring downtown Memphis. Landon's favorite part was the Civic Center Fountain. I think we may have to go back again tomorrow with his swimming suit :)

1st Day in Memphis

Seth planned a trip to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary in Memphis, TN. We are really enjoying our time here. Tonight we went on a dinner cruise. It was really nice. Landon enjoyed the band and disco lights, however, he wasn't too fond of the fireworks. I think it was more the loud pops than the fireworks themselves because when we went inside and looked out the window he liked them a lot better. Seth also arranged a massage for me which was so relaxing. I am so thankful for my sweet hubby.

Cheap Dinner out at Restaurant.com

If you haven't heard of Restaurant.com I will explain and hope you take advantage and have a nice dinner out!

Enter your zipcode and find a participating Restaurant in your area that you would like to try.

Pick a $25 certificate which says it would cost $10

When you check out, enter the promo code "SPECIAL" which will take your total down to $2.00

You can then print it out and use it

Most of the restaurants say you have to have a minimum purchase of $35 and some say a gratuity of 18% will be added before the discounted certificate is applied. So, let me do the break down of the one I purchased:

$25 Certificate - $2.00

Birthday Recap

Landon had two wonderful birthday parties. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We are so thankful for our precious boy. He has brought us so much joy and healing after the loss of Samuel.

His first party was in Iowa with my side of the family. We had such a nice time together. Landon loved the angel food cake - mom told me he devoured 5 cupcakes! A little more than I was planning on giving him, but that's ok, he only turns 1 once.

His second party was here in Tulsa with Seth's side of the family. He didn't really know what to think of everything. He didn't like the chocolate cake too much which really surprised me. I'm sure he'll like it soon enough - I won't push anything though :)

My 3rd Mother's Day

I had an absolutely wonderful mother's day. Last year, Landon was just a day old so we didn't get to really celebrate it (we did, but you know what I mean). The year before I had hoped to have my little Samuel to hold on that first mother's day, but he was with Jesus. So, today we took a trip out to Samuel's grave so I could be with both my boys on mother's day. It was nice to be there with Landon. He even said, "brother" when prompted while we were there (well, it came out more like, "brovver"), it was so sweet.

I also got this pendant engraved with Samuel's initials on one side and his birthday on the other (I received the pendant at the hospital when we had Samuel). Seth also got me a new chain to wear with it - I absolutely love how it turned out.

We ended the night at a special restaurant (we went to our first date here), Abuelos. It was delicious! Landon even got some birthday Flan which he loved.

Happy First Birthday Landon!

It's always been a tradition in my family to have breakfast in bed on your birthday. So, this morning Landon got to have his first breakfast in bed on his first birthday. He loved it!
