Pray without ceasing

1 Thes. 5:17 "pray without ceasing;"

Landon is really teaching me the meaning of this verse. He often folds his hands and says, "Pray, Bekah;" "Pray, Joshie;" "Pray, Finn," etc... He patiently waits for me to pray for that person then asks me to pray for another. Although tonight he said, "Pray Tommy" (referring to Thomas the Train). He insisted probably five times that we pray for him. I tried to explain that we only pray for things that are real like people and that Thomas isn't a person. Then, he said, "Pray Percy" (since it sounded like person). How do you explain this concept to a 20 month old?

Simon always asked to pray for Lightning McQueen when he was that age. :) I guess in his world, that WAS a real person...haha! oh well, they are getting the concept, and you can gently guide him in the right direction as you pray for his favorite trains and real people too.

I love it when they ask to pray and want to pray for specific people:) it's so precious. somtimes with toys and such we pray thanking Jesus for the toys that we have and are blessed with instead of praying for the toy itself. this way too they slowly learn to be thankful for things. Landon is such a sweet boy!

When Hayley was in her imaginary friend stage not too long ago (I'm assuming it's over as she hasn't mentioned "Ella" in awhile), there were several times that she asked prayer for her when we'd pray together at night before bed. So I would say something general like, "and we pray for Ella, and..." or would include her in a general "friends" phrase if Hayley mentioned several people. She did ask prayer for a toy once, and I that's when I did try and explain what we pray for and what not. A good idea your friend had about thanking God for the toy! And it is interesting sometimes explaining things to our children, they come up with such random ideas, but those ideas may seem valid to them. I love reading about Landon in regards to spiritual things, it is always so encouraging to see children have such an interest in God! A testament to you & Seth as parents, keep up the good work!
