Green Smoothies

Check out this site if your interested in healthy eating. Be sure to watch the video demonstration.

A couple of years ago I started struggling with joint problems and have been learning a lot about how much my diet affects my pain. A couple weeks ago I started drinking 32 ounces of Green Smoothie a day and I have been feeling great with very minimal joint pain. It's hard enough to get your 7 fruits and veggies a day, but the smoothies I have been making have about 8-10 servings in that alone! I was a little leery to try this at first, but I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend you start with a handful of spinach or so and work your way up. I have tried both spinach and kale and I can't taste it at all, it's just a delicious, refreshing smoothie. Oh and I don't usually drink it all at once. I make it in the morning and sip on it throughout my day. It's a good snack replacer too.

Here's what I've been putting in mine this week:

4 cups of Kale (each loosely packed cup counts as a serving)
1 cup orange juice
2 bananas (usually I freeze one or both ahead of time)
1 cup berries (strawberries this week)
1 peach
1 kiwi

Blend the Kale or spinach up with the OJ first, then add the rest of the ingredients and enjoy! Let me know if you try it and what you think.

Thanks! I was just talking tonight about how much I love to make smoothies. That sounds great to add spinach. I will try the recipe and give you some feedback.

That's cool that you can't taste the green stuff.

Hey Marcie!
We've been making these for a while! We have a similar recipe we got from Above Rubies magazine. Our kids actually really like it! I feel a little sneaky (they think they're getting some sort of dessert) but if they can't tell the difference, I'm certainly not going to tell them!!
